Dan’s Story

Following the economic crisis of 2008, while working as an automotive engineer Dan Kosmowski decided to attend law school at night. His life was forever changed when during his first year of law school, his father Bernie, was diagnosed with frontal temporal dementia and post-traumatic stress disorder. For nearly 10 years, Dan has helped his father with his housing, medical, social, financial, and legal needs. Dan is passionate about helping out families and individuals along the journey of dementia and other brain injuries. As a result of his personal background, Dan advocates for creative solutions that enable families make sure their loved ones with special needs and disabilities receive quality care.

Dan earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, magna cum laude, and a juris doctorate, cum laude, from Wayne State University. Dan has also earned nearly a dozen awards and scholarships.

Dan was named a Michigan Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2017 to 2023. Dan was also featured in Urban Aging and on CBS Eye on Aging in Detroit.

How can I serve you?

Being a caregiver for my disabled father, I want to be the voice for those like him, who are unable to speak for themselves. As an attorney at Birth Justice, I am dedicated to serving victims of medical negligence who suffered life-altering injuries.
